Come join a 6:00 p.m. bible study called By Heart. A look at Luther’s Small Catechism. This class uses a book to be read at the class. A DVD introduction and discussion. Please see Pastor Diane to sign-out a book. The first class starts September 20 in the Trinity Room.
The Valley Talent Showcase fundraiser will be September 23 at 7 pm at Trinity. Anyone wishing to perform may contact Deb Burlinski at 244-1319 or Jennie Barge. Talent is not limited to music.
This fall’s intergenerational Sunday school class will examine the life of David in all its charismatic, quirky Old Testament glory. (Have you ever noticed how often God’s most favorite people have to literally run for their lives? It’s a thing!)
Every week, we’ll examine an episode in David’s life — like “How David Made Saul Look Like a Sissy” or “How to Criticize a King Without Losing Your Head.” Classes will be based on Old Testament Professor Walter Brueggemann’s book David’s Truth and facilitated by Dena Luchsinger. Come and consider the public, private, and theological truths of Israel’s most Davidic King.
We’ll meet in the Trinity Room at 9 a.m.
This month we welcomed Hazel Davidson as our intern at Trinity. Hazel came and did some preaching at Trinity a few months back. Hazel has completed her studies with TEEM (Theological Education for Emerging Ministries) through Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary. This winter she will also complete her studies at Fuller Seminary and prepare for her first call and ordination.
Hazel is working with Trinity as an intern for 12 weeks spread over August 15 to October 15, 2017 and January to February, 2018. Because of her ongoing studies there will be weeks during both of these time periods when she will be out of state attending classes.
While Hazel is working at Trinity, she will work on her preaching and worship leadership skills, administration- particularly helping to plan the church budget and annual meeting for 2018, and preparing for, assisting in and leading any baptisms, weddings, funerals or other special occasion services. Hazel is also continuing her work with the PLUME Latino group as well as completing her studies at Fuller. Her time with Trinity is limited to 20 hours a week.
Pastor Diane is serving as Hazel’s internship supervisor. The council has asked Deb Till, Dena Luchsinger, Dana Tesch, Barrett Barge, and Betty Hein to serve as her oversight committee.
We are excited to have Hazel work with us at Trinity. We hope that we are a blessing to her as she trains for ministry and that she is a blessing to us as she shares her faith and knowledge as a leader while here at Trinity.
